Celebrating National Lemonade Day with local junior school

Celebrating National Lemonade Day with local junior school

An 11-year-old pupil from Tillingbourne Junior School in Guildford, Surrey, showed us her entrepreneurial potential when she took the top prize in our social media marketing campaign to celebrate National Lemonade Day.

Our winner Mhairi’s design – a piggy bank featuring our logo and her own wording “Don’t oink around! Save your money in fizzing seconds!” – received the most exposure, likes and website click-throughs when it was posted on Facebook and Twitter from May 5 – 11.

Ninety children were involved in designing advertisements, promoting our Lemonade Hero Service (money management coaches) and four were chosen to post on social media. Collectively they prompted nearly 8,700 social media impressions over six days!

National Lemonade Day (May 7) is a US event giving young entrepreneurs the chance to set up and run their own businesses. We are calling for a National Lemonade Day to be included within the primary school curriculum, so we decided to run our own initiative close to home.

Our marketing manager, Michelle Williamson, briefed the children on what we do, the role of marketing and the key messages they needed to include within their advertisements and they interpreted the brief very well.

They came up with some great ideas and showed just how much we can learn from them. Our judges were very impressed with the high standards of work produced.
